ixigo launches Bharat Darshan Tours, expands into packaged holidays
Online travel platform ixigo has launched ‘ixigo Bharat Darshan’, marking its entry into the packaged holiday segment with curated spiritual and family holiday tours across India.
The new offering brings together train travel, accommodation, meals, sightseeing and local transportation under a single itinerary. The packages have been curated in association with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and are available for booking through the ixigo Trains app.
The initial portfolio focuses on popular pilgrimage and spiritual destinations, including Vaishno Devi, Ayodhya, Char Dham, Tirupati and Shirdi, alongside leisure and family destinations such as Kashmir and the Northeast.
Packages are offered across Comfort and Superior categories, with prices starting from around INR 6,990 and going up to approximately INR 2-3 lakh, depending on the destination, duration and category.
According to ixigo, the initiative is aimed at simplifying the planning of multi-component domestic trips, particularly for travellers undertaking pilgrimage journeys. By combining rail travel with accommodation, sightseeing and transfers, the platform seeks to provide travellers with an end-to-end holiday option through a single booking.
The launch also comes against the backdrop of rising demand for rail travel to spiritual destinations. ixigo said searches for trains to destinations such as Haridwar, Rishikesh, Ujjain, Shirdi and Varanasi have grown by 15-20% year-on-year.
Dinesh Kumar Kotha, CEO, ixigo Trains & ConfirmTkt, said the growing interest in spiritual travel presents an opportunity to make pilgrimage journeys more convenient through curated, end-to-end packages.
With Bharat Darshan, ixigo is expanding beyond its traditional role as a platform for booking individual travel components. The company will use its digital distribution and booking platform, while IRCTC provides the curated tour itineraries.
The new offering is expected to strengthen ixigo’s presence in India’s growing domestic holiday and pilgrimage travel market, while tapping into demand for convenient, organised travel experiences.
