Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart 2026 Brings 300 Travel Agents and 700 Tourism Businesses Together to Boost Domestic Tourism
Rajasthan is stepping up efforts to strengthen domestic tourism with the sixth edition of the Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart (RDTM) 2026, bringing together travel agents, tour operators, hotels, resorts, heritage properties and destination-management companies from across India.
The three-day tourism marketplace is designed to create new business opportunities for Rajasthan’s tourism and hospitality industry while showcasing the state’s diverse travel experiences to a wider domestic audience. Around 300 travel agents and tour operators from across India are participating alongside more than 700 tourism properties and companies from Rajasthan, with more than 21,000 business meetings expected during the event.
Connecting Tourism Businesses With Travel Buyers
RDTM 2026 is structured as a business-to-business platform where tourism suppliers from Rajasthan can meet travel professionals looking to develop new itineraries and tourism products.
Participating businesses include hotels, resorts, heritage properties, tour companies and destination-management organisations. The meetings are intended to help travel buyers discover accommodation options, destination experiences and specialised tourism products that can subsequently be offered to travellers from different parts of India.
The event is being organised by the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR) with support from the Rajasthan Tourism Department. The 2026 edition is being held under the theme “Stories, Journey, Smiles.”
Rajasthan Promotes More Than Heritage Tourism
Rajasthan is traditionally associated with forts, palaces, desert landscapes and heritage hotels. However, RDTM 2026 is putting a broader range of tourism experiences into focus.
These include cultural and experiential tourism, wildlife tourism, wellness tourism, adventure tourism, rural tourism, spiritual tourism, heritage tourism, fairs and festivals, weddings and events, and culinary experiences.
The broader approach reflects changing domestic travel patterns, with travellers increasingly seeking experiences connected with culture, food, nature, wellness and local communities.
Focus on Lesser-Known Destinations
Another important element of the tourism strategy is promoting destinations beyond Rajasthan’s most recognisable tourist cities.
The state has a large portfolio of destinations covering historic towns, wildlife areas, rural communities, cultural sites and heritage locations. Rajasthan Tourism’s official portal features destinations including Dausa, Dholpur, Tonk, Karauli and Hanumangarh, among many others.
Promoting these locations could help distribute tourism activity across a larger number of destinations rather than concentrating visitor traffic in a limited number of established tourism hubs.
Rural and Experiential Tourism Gain Attention
Rural tourism is also receiving greater attention as Rajasthan looks to develop experiences around its villages, traditional architecture, handicrafts, cuisine, folk performances and community-based activities.
These experiences can provide opportunities for local communities and small businesses to participate in the tourism economy through accommodation, food, handicrafts, guiding services and cultural activities.
Tourism and the Wedding Economy
Rajasthan’s tourism industry is also closely connected with the wedding and events sector.
The state’s forts, palaces and heritage properties have made it an established destination for weddings and large celebrations. RDTM 2026 is bringing wedding planners and event professionals into the tourism marketplace, creating opportunities to connect destination tourism with the wider events economy.
Strengthening Domestic Tourism
Domestic travellers remain an important component of India’s tourism market. Rajasthan’s diverse destinations allow the state to cater to heritage tourists, wildlife enthusiasts, adventure travellers, wellness tourists and visitors seeking cultural experiences.
Business-to-business events such as RDTM provide tourism businesses with an opportunity to connect directly with travel agencies and tour operators that help shape consumer travel choices.
Creating Opportunities for Local Businesses
The benefits of tourism extend beyond hotels and travel companies. Restaurants, handicraft businesses, guides, transport operators, cultural performers and experience providers can also benefit when visitor spending reaches different parts of the tourism ecosystem.
Greater promotion of lesser-known destinations could create additional opportunities for small and medium-sized tourism businesses outside the state’s major tourism centres.
At the same time, continued tourism growth will require appropriate infrastructure, responsible destination management and preservation of the cultural and environmental assets that attract visitors.
Rajasthan’s Tourism Strategy Looks Beyond Traditional Attractions
RDTM 2026 reflects a broader effort to position Rajasthan as a destination offering multiple forms of travel rather than relying exclusively on its famous forts and palaces.
From rural and wildlife tourism to wellness, adventure, weddings, cuisine and cultural experiences, the state is seeking to diversify its tourism offering and connect these products with travel buyers across India.
With hundreds of tourism businesses and travel professionals participating, the Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart provides a platform for the industry to develop new partnerships, promote emerging destinations and create tourism products for India’s expanding domestic travel market.
